Physicians
Dr. Adriana Cano, a native Texan, attended undergraduate school at UT El Paso. She then went to UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and trained in Internal Medicine and Nephrology with affiliated hospitals of Parkland Memorial and Veterans Administration Hospitals.
She was part of faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine division of Nephrology for several years before joining Dallas Kidney Specialists in 1998. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Cano is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Ganaraj was born in Massachusetts and raised in rural Mississippi. She attended undergraduate school at California Institute of Technology and then went on to get her medical degree from University of Mississippi Medical Center.
After completing her Internal Medicine residency at University of Mississippi, she remained on faculty there and at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson for one year before continuing on to complete Nephrology training. She joined Dallas Kidney Specialists, PA immediately after her fellowship in 2003. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Dr. Peter Choi is originally from New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate and medical education with the UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/Rutgers University BA/MD Dual Degree Program in 2006.
He received his training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Albert Einstein-Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY and is board certified in both fields. He moved to sunny Texas in 2012 and is excited to continue caring for those with kidney disease.
Dr. Choi is fluent in Spanish and Korean.
Dr. Adari specializes in acute and chronic kidney disease, end stage kidney disease including dialysis, prevention and medical management of kidney stone and hypertension.
She sees patients over 18 years of age.
Jeffrey R. Thompson, MD
Dr. Thompson was born outside of Philadelphia, raised in southern California, and went to college at the University of Illinois, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from the University of Illinois Medical School with honors in 1982, and then trained in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at UT Southwestern from 1982-1987. He is board certified in both fields. He served on the faculty of UT Southwestern from 1987-1993, serving as co-director of the dialysis unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and on the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant service there. He founded Dallas Kidney Specialists, P.A., on December 1, 1993.
He is married to Mayra Jimenez Thompson, M.D. They have 4 children, born 1985-1993. He is a member of St. Rita Catholic Community and the Catholic Medical Association.
He enjoys the care of people with kidney disease at all stages, from mild problems to kidney failure, including dialysis and transplantation. He has a special interest in immune-mediated kidney diseases, including systemic lupus nephritis.
Dr. Thompson strives for excellence in his medical practice. Additionally, he knows that his purpose is not to mend a broken machine, but to minister to a person who is in need of respect and love. His goal is for solidarity with the patient during their journey. He is an advocate for life, from its beginning, to its natural end.
